Rugby rules
Each player must follow rugby rules in an officially sanctioned game.
If during a game, a player is told by the referee that an item is banned
and is found to be wearing it anyway, he or she is sent off the field
for misconduct. A player may not leave the field to change items of
clothing. The only exception to this is if the clothes are bloodstained.
If a jersey or shorts are ripped, play will continue while the clothing
is replaced.
Rugby rules allow a player to wear a scrum cap as protection. Scrum
caps protect the ears against abrasions and the head from hard impacts
on the ground. The headwear must be made of fabric or leather and no
additional padding is allowed. No projections are permitted and it must
not be construed as a helmet.
Rugby rules allow players to wear thigh protectors. Basically, this
only allows a player to wear undergarments with no padding. It is not
permitted to wear shoes that do not conform to the governing board's
standards as written. No player may wear boots with serrated or ridged
soles.
